# What is Reproduction (Repro)?

Reproduction is the process of recreating a bug from its reported steps and conditions. Repro steps are the exact instructions to trigger it.

## Why it matters

A reliable repro is usually the turning point in a bug. Once engineers can trigger it, a fix often follows quickly.

## Best practices

1. Write minimal steps. Strip out anything that isn't needed to trigger it.
2. Capture the environment. Version, browser, region, plan, flags.
3. Use production evidence when you can't. Logs and traces can stand in for a repro.

## How Decimal helps

Decimal pulls the conditions from the customer's real environment and includes them in the escalation, which turns many hard repros into easy ones.
